Feng Shui Tips to Spiritually Charge Your Meditation Room

Feng Shui Tips to Spiritually Charge Your Meditation Room

Both seasoned practitioners and amateurs will assure you that meditation is not as easy as it is sometimes made out to be. Sitting cross-legged on the floor and concentrating on your breath requires intense focus and willpower. But surrounding yourself with positive vibes will help you feel more relaxed and balanced on a regular basis.  Add a touch of  Zen Décor and Feng Shui principles to any space in your home.  Feng Shui helps attract positive energy and thus creates a favorable ambiance to breath mindfully, contemplate, or introspect. There are many simple ways to bring positive energy into your home.

Clear the Clutter

According to the principles of Feng Shui, clutter traps positive energy (Chi) and prevents it from flowing freely and steadily through a living space. Clutter begets more clutter and soon a cluttered space begins to harbor so much stagnant energy that it becomes impossible to concentrate and be productive here. A meditation space should be clutter-free.

Paint to Attract Spiritual Vibes

Colors can have a powerful effect on the mood. So, paint your meditation room in a color that radiates peace and tranquility and attracts spiritual vibes. Blue is a color of peace; green represents healing, rejuvenation, and relaxation; white evokes feelings of serenity and spirituality; and purple is associated with heightened spiritual awareness.  Don't want to paint, add these colors to your room with Zen décor pieces like plants, wall art, pillows, or throws.

Balance the Elements

According to the Feng Shui tradition, there are five elements in the world: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. A grounding principle of Feng Shui is to achieve the perfect balance between these five elements. Your meditation room should have a mix of Wood that symbolizes growth, strength, and intuition; Fire that provides inspiration; Earth that is stable and helps you feel grounded; Metal that sharpens focus and encourages righteous actions; and Water that brings about wisdom, clarity of thought, and deep insight.

You can place fresh flowers, plants, and wooden furniture in your meditation room to incorporate the element Wood. Candles, Himalayan Salt Lamps, and natural light in abundance symbolize Fire while objects in earthy tones, low-lying furniture, and photographs and/or paintings of landscapes represent the element Earth. Rocks, pebbles, and objects made of metals like gold, silver, aluminum, and iron bring in the element Metal while mirrors, gazing balls, and water features like fountains and aquariums can be incorporated in your meditation space to symbolize Water.

Create an Altar

An altar placed in your meditation room serves as a spiritual focal point. You can place on it figurines of your guardian deities, candles, incense sticks, crystals, inspirational reading material like a book of quotes, a favorite photograph, or any other object that has spiritual connotation for you. You can also arrange objects on the altar to represent one or more of the five elements.

Your altar is a sacred space that will attract a lot of Chi. Ensure that you do not position it right in front of the entrance to your meditation room. Preferably place it on one side of the room and in front of a wall so that you can regulate the flow of energy. If your room is laid out such that you cannot but position the altar directly in line with the door, then place a small plant or a table to act as a barrier.
